Against
SQLite

sql.js is SQLite compiled to WebAssembly: a row store with twenty-five years of work behind it. Same rows, same queries, same tab, same clock.

It wins several of these outright, and the ones it wins are the interesting ones. A columnar, vectorized engine should beat a row store on analytical scans and lose to a B-tree on point lookups — showing that tradeoff is worth more than winning everywhere.
